Dr. Eric Robinson

Orthopaedic Surgeon

​

Dr. Robinson's past roles include:

  • Medical Director of Occupational Health, Health Sciences North

  • Department Head, Orthopaedic Surgery, Health Sciences North

  • Royal College Examiner, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons

  • Member, Ontario Orthopaedic Association

Dr. Robinson obtained his MD from the University of Ottawa in 1987, and graduated from the Orthopaedic Surgical Residency Program at University of Ottawa in 1992.  He went on to complete sub-specialties in Adult and Reconstructive Surgery and Epidemiology through Clinical and Research Fellowships with the University of Ottawa and Western University.

Dr.  Robinson is currently an Orthopaedic Surgeon with active privileges at Health Sciences North and the Manitoulin Health Centre.  He is an associate professor at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.  He is the Lead Surgeon for the North Eastern Joint Assessment Centre, and is Surgical Director for Strive Sports Medicine Centre.  He has co-authored numerous publications in Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Robinson has held a myriad of leadership positions within Health Sciences North including Medical Director of Occupational Health and Chief of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.  Dr. Robinson is a past Royal College Examiner in Orthopaedics, and has served on the board of the Ontario Orthopaedic Association.  He is a current member of the Ontario Medical Association, the Canadian Medical Association and the Ontario Orthopaedic Association.

Despite his busy practice and participation in joint health research, Dr. Robinson finds the time to participate in Operation Walk, a volunteer organization that provides free hip and knee replacement surgery to patients suffering from debilitating bone and joint disease in developing countries.

​

A celebrated winner of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association Research Award and the Frank Stinchfield Hip Society Award, Dr. Robinson looks forward to continuing his involvement in the development of innovative solutions to pain and disability through his role at Ontario Regenerative Medicine.
