Sexual Health for Women

During menopause, women experience a significant decline in estrogen, as well as testosterone and progesterone, and an increase in FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone).

As is well known, women's bodies experience different hormonal stages throughout life:

Premenopause: The period of time from puberty to menopause. Premenopausal women are still producing their own estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone.

Perimenopause: A period of time that starts at the onset of menstrual cycle changes and other menopause-related symptoms, extending through menopause and up to one year after menopause.

Postmenopause: The period of time after menopause. A woman is no longer able to produce estradiol or progesterone.

Due to declining hormone levels, many women experience issues with their sexual health during this time. This may include a lack of sex drive, as well as vaginal dryness and painful intercourse. The physical symptoms often lead  to psychological distress and an even further decline in sexual interest.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy at Ontario Regenerative Medicine can have a profound impact on multiple variables that affect a women's enjoyment of sexual relations.  These include an increased libido, improved secretions and lubrication, reversal of perineal dryness and itching, elimination of painful intercourse, and increased blood flow, and sensation in vaginal tissues.
