Heart and Estrogen/Progestin Replacement Study (HERS): design, methods, and baseline characteristics

Objective: Testing the efficacy and safety of estrogen plus progestin therapy for prevention of recurrent coronary heart disease (CHD) events in women

Conclusion: Based on the favorable pattern of CHD outcome in years 4 and 5 it may be appropriate for women ALREADY receiving this treatment to continue
